So… You’ve just looked at some of our posts and perhaps you wonder if we take our own photos; The answer is yes. (Unless of course we simply link to another site because we found a photo or something interesting and relevant that we really like.)
While our photos may not be the most stunning photos around by far, we are learning more and more as we go and hope to continue to increase the quality of our photos!
We are going to incorporate the shot info for each photo we post beginning soon (and yes this will be retro active with the photos we’ve already posted)
We’d also like to take a moment to show you the gear we use!
Currently we are using the Canon 60D and we have 3 different lenses we normally shoot with.
First up is our favorite Lens in our arsenal; The Canon EF-S 50mm F / 1.8 II Prime Lens. Also Affectionately named the “Nifty-Fifty”.
We like this lens because it is super crisp and sharp!
Next up is the Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Zoom Lens
And for the final piece of glass in our gadget bag is the Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Standard Zoom Lens
We really like this lens because it is versatile. What do we mean by versatile? well, it is 18mm to 135mm; and that’s a great range for general photography that doesn’t require either a zoom lens for birds (300mm MINIMUM but more like the Sigma 150-500mm f/5-6.3 AF APO DG OS HSM Telephoto Zoom Lens and definitely IS(Image Stabilized when you get into these focal lengths) or a true macro lens for up close photography. ( like the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens )
This lens retails by itself for $499.00 on Amazon but you can get it in the 60D kit and it comes to like $250!!!
for example, here is the Canon 60D Body Only for $699.00
and here is the Canon 60D Kit with 18-135mm Lens for $999.00
so the Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Standard Zoom Lens ends up being $200 less when you buy the 60D Kit!
For now, we will end this here, we use a few filters, and some magnifiers for our macro shots but we will get in to that in a separate post and delve into the economical way to take macro shots.
Until next time! Au Revoir!
